Wilpattu National Park (Willu-pattu; Land of Lakes) is a park located on the island of Sri Lanka. The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. Located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka. The park is located 30 km west Anuradhapura and located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo). The park is 131, 693 hectares and ranges from 0 to 152 meters above sea level. Nearly sixty lakes (Willu) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu. Wilpattu is the largest and one of the oldest National Parks in Sri Lanka. Wilpattu is among the top national parks world-renowned for its leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) population. A remote camera survey was conducted in Wilpattu from July to October 2015 by the Wilderness & Wildlife Conservation Trust. A sample of forty nine individual leopards were photo-captured in the surveyed area and the core area density was between that of Yala National Park's Block I and Horton Plains National Park.

Anuradhapura (Sinhalese: අනුරාධපුරය ; Tamil: அனுராதபுரம்) is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization. It was the third capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata, following the kingdoms of Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara.The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the center of TheravadaBuddhism for many centuries. The city lies 205 km (127 mi) north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka's North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malvathu Oya. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.It is believed that from the fourth century BC until the beginning of the 11th century AD it was the capital of the Sinhalese. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world, is today surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²).

Poḷonnaruwa (Sinhalese:පොලොන්නරුව, Poḷonnaruwa or Puḷattipura, Tamil:பொலன்னறுவை, Polaṉṉaṟuvai or Puḷattinakaram) is the main town of Polonnaruwa District in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. Kaduruwela area is the Polonnaruwa New Town and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.The second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated Chola invadersin 1070 to reunite the country once more under a local leader.The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage Site.[1]Currently the new Polonnaruwa is undergoing a major development project known as the "Awakening of Polonnaruwa" under the concept of President Maithripala Sirisena. It envisions the development of all sectors in Polonnaruwa including roads, electricity, agriculture, education, health and environment will be developed comprehensively.

Sigiriya is the stunning 5th century rock fortress hideaway of fugitive king. This citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the water garden, a UNESCO world heritage site , ring the base of the rock and the world- renowned frescoes of the “Heavenly Maidens” still glowing with colour can be reached by a spiral staircase.

Dambulla Rock Temple was built by King Walagamba in the 1st Century BC and it is a world Heritage site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave Temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq metres of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the Colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of Rock and spanning 14 meters

the picturesque hill-capital, was the last royal stronghold against Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial domination until 1815. A sanctuary of medieval culture, arts, crafts and lifestyles, it is set amid mountain ranges, lake and river, tea and spice gardens. The magnificent 16th-19th century moated, turreted and golden-roofed Dalada Maligawa, shrine of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, is its main attraction. Other highlights include 14th -18th century Buddhist temples – Natha Devake (a UNESCO World Heritage site) Embekke, Lankatilleke, Degaldoruwa and Gadaladeniya. Colourful bazaars and handicraft shops and the 59-hectare Royal Botanic Gardens with superb collections of tropical flora, also hold much interest. The Annual torch-lit Esala Perahera, Asia’s grandest period-pageant, is a glittering spectacle of highland dancers, drummers, chieftains and costumed elephants.
